State & Federal Policy / Advocacy
Momentum is Building ⚡
The Fiscal Year 2027 House appropriations letter calling for "robust funding" for Community Health Centers (CHCs) is open for another ten days.
192 bipartisan representatives have signed on — putting us two-thirds of the way toward our goal of 288 signatures!
Please ask your representative to sign this letter, led by Reps. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) and Diana DeGette (D-CO), before it closes on March 25. The Senate letter is expected to be released soon.

Advocates still have an opportunity to urge the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to prioritize funding for key CHC investments:

Expand behavioral health and nutrition services to address the full spectrum of patient needs.
New Access Points
Establish New Access Points to increase care in underserved communities across the country.
Teaching Health Centers
Grow the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program to build the next generation of providers.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when caught early, and routine screenings can save lives.

Beginning Monday, April 6, our Employee Health Clinic will offer expanded hours to better support our staff, with care provided by Jaimie Shannon, FNP, and Dr. Joan East.
Please join us in welcoming Jaimie to Piedmont Health! With a strong background in pediatrics, adult medicine, and women's health—and a deep commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care—Jaimie will serve as a dedicated resource for our team's health and well-being.

Please join us in welcoming our new Nurse Manager at Carrboro CHC, who will begin on March 23.
Originally from New Jersey and a North Carolina resident for 25 years, she brings a strong clinical background in emergency care along with a Master of Public Health from UNC Gillings.
Her passion for serving underserved communities, combined with her compassionate, equity-driven approach, makes her a wonderful addition to our team. We're excited for the experience and perspective she brings to Piedmont Health!

We're excited to welcome you back to our Caregiver Support Groups with Kathleen Little, PACE Social Worker, in Burlington and Pittsboro.
These gatherings are a warm, supportive space where caregivers can share experiences, swap helpful tips, and connect with others who truly understand the journey—because caregiving is easier when you don't have to do it alone.

From a fantastic dinner to inspiring award recognitions, the night truly reflected the heart of our work. And yes—we had some fun too, with a packed dance floor and popular 360 video and photo booth moments!
